Where it all comes together…
Ono what?
Onomatopoeia! That’s what!
This week we’ve been exploring the use of onomatopoeia. We’ve read some comics, watch some old Batman episodes and read a poem full of onomatopoeia. In Literacy groups students have worked in pairs to think of a scene that could use some onomatopoeia and then take a photo and edit it using the Strip Designer app. Some of them were quite creative and one group even found the drawing tool within the app. Click the thumbnail to see the full image. I’ll add some more work samples after tomorrow’s sessions.

What excellent ideas! I love the way the kids thought hard about how to stage the photos, then used their acting skills and creativity to enhance them. The onomatopoeic words worked very well.
